Memo to Bryan Colangelo:

Dear Bryan,

The following chart shows offensive fouls drawn (mostly charges taken) this season. Seeing that the Raptors’ highest ranked player is 55th, means EVERY team in the NBA could *almost* have 2 players more active defensively, before the Raps had their first…um, yea, just address this in the off-season. Step 1: Domain name.

Sincerely,

Here’s how Howard and Hump handled the heat, head to head, (hehe):

Conclusion: As hypothesized, Kris Humphries held his own against Dwight Howard. There’s nothing that Hump likes more (other than thinking he’s a scorer) than a physical mano a mano match up down low. Read the rest of this entry »

Fresh off listening to an impressive rally speech from Obama, I couldn’t help but parallel his opponent, Hillary Clinton to Sam Mitchell.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa”, you say (or “Beep, beep beep, back it up”, if you’re George Costanza). But stay with me and allow me to count the ways. Read the rest of this entry »

Orlando - few drinks / well behaved, all things considered
Cleveland - copious amounts of alcohol / poorly behaved
Detroit - might not make it past the first half / atrocious behaviour
Boston - might not make it into the stadium / possible jail time”

I’m going to put this out there. If you like it, you can take it. If not, throw it right back at me…

Imagine the Raps playing true Don Nelson’s Golden State Warrior style small-ball?

You could argue Nellie-ball would yield more success, if you considered the following: Read the rest of this entry »

As predicted, the Pistons didnt arise for last night’s game. Lacking the spacing injured sharpshooter Rip Hamilton normally gives them, their offense was anemic.

That said, Coach of the Year, “Smitch” coached a solid game for the Raps: the Ford/Bosh pick n’ roll was steady throughout, the starting lineup change infused some urgency and purpose on the defensive end and the two-pronged PG attack to close out the game was a worthwhile risk that paid off.

It would be nice if a well coached game didn’t warrant mentioning, but it has been the exception ’round these parts.

It’s going to be tough for the Pistons to get up for this game. Their overtime win against the Sun’s took battlefield grit, scraped elbows and primal screams to outmuscle Shaq, Amare and their spindly general, Nash.

Tonight, they’ve got to contend with the Raptor’s inside presence, with the combined tenacity of a slightly upset kitten. Rumour has it, they’re considering giving this squad some playing time:
