You’d be hard press to argue Jose is a (dorky) student…of the game:

Hey Bryan,
Sorry for all the memos this month (with the lack of home-town playoff basketball available and all, idle time abounds) but add one more thing to your off-season shopping list, please: Bulk.

Woke up this morning, got myself a PG. Tarantino fast forward three years with me.

Head coach of the Raptors, Mike D’antoni, is on the podium surrounded by a throng of expectant media’ers. Flanked by the GM and his consiglieri, is the new free agent signing - #13, Steeeeeve Nash. Read the rest of this entry »
Add to the list…this one’s almost over.

Here’s how Howard and Hump handled the heat, head to head, (hehe):

Conclusion: As hypothesized, Kris Humphries held his own against Dwight Howard. There’s nothing that Hump likes more (other than thinking he’s a scorer) than a physical mano a mano match up down low. Read the rest of this entry »
Bryan Colangelo, GM, touched upon the ‘under-utilization’ of several players on the Raptors.
These stats (courtesy 82games.com) cement that statement: the NBA’s best 5-man units over the season.
The Raptors’ best lineup comes in at 25, one at 34th (with TJ) and then all other combos far lower…
Bill Simmons made mention of Rasho’s improbable resurgence over the last month. Lets look at the stats.

Reasons, anyone?
4. Easier schedule.
3. Colder shooting overall, means more reliance on the big man.
2. More minutes.
1. Contract year.
Like the White sox, yet, in basketball - and truer to the name…
Two games ago, I returned from a beer-run to notice the Raptors had the all-white lineup in, (a lineup we’ve dubbed BLANCA), so I did some light-hearted research to see who could field the best ‘all-white’ lineup in the NBA.

I had em like this (a close 1-2 tilt):
1) Raps: Calderon-Delfino-Kapono-Bargnani-Nesterovic (Brezec-Garbajosa)
2) Lakers: Vujacic-Karl-Walton-Radmanovic-Gasol (Mihm)
3) Blazers: Blake-Rodriguez-LaFrentz-McRoberts-Pryzbilla
4) Grizzlies: Cardinal-Jacobsen-Milicic-Miller-Navarro
Honourable mentions:
Indiana: Diener-Dunleavy-Foster-Murphy
Suns: Nash-Giricek-Piatkowski-Marks
Spurs: Barry-Bonner-Ginobli-Oberto*
Jazz: Korver-Kirilenko-Harpring-Okur*
Spurs and Jazz could probably play 4 on 5, and give the other teams a run for their money.
John Hollinger of ESPN.com, recently announced his all defensive teams. Tough to pinpoint as an exact science, defense’s definition can vary; but mostly agreeing with the list, I charted those players besides their team’s win-loss records. Read the rest of this entry »
1:00pm. An hour ago, I pull my car out of the garage after several weeks of inactivity, to renew its recently expired plates. Headed west on the Gardiner, driving inconspicuously slow in the middle lane. Predictably, a cop shows up behind me (as they usually do, downtown, for certain cars/driver profiles).

In front of me, the black Bentley coupe with the Texas plates, is going even slower. I pass it, hoping the cop won’t shadow. He doesn’t - with the obvious bigger fish to fry in front of him. I cut back in front of CB4 (Window down, hat on backwards, zoned out). Cop shadows him for 5 minutes and exits with him, 3 exits later. If he stopped him, hopefully Chris knew Jay-Z’s response to “Son, do you know what I’m stopping you for?”.
Thanks for setting the pick, Chris dash Bosh. Disregard my last post, I’ll cheer a little louder…fuck it, I’m painting my face for the Nets game.
