Love or hate him, he was inexorably woven into the Raptor fabric, and will be missed by many.
(Whoever’s in charge - Please no Rod Black. At any time. Please! Even Suneel Joshi, but not Rod f@cking Black.)

Sam Mitchell, Fire Sam Mitchell, Sam Mitchell sucks, Raptors Coach, SMitch, Raps coach

I’m thoroughly convinced that Rod Black is a robot. The man is the “great whore” of Canadian Sports television.
As for Chuck, I believe he started out as a knowledgeable play-by-play guy and slowly but surely turned into the homer-esque broadcaster…
All in all, he was a positive factor in the history of the franchise, he brought new fans in, even the casual hockey crowd.
Kudos to you Chuck…

I couldn’t be happier. The thing that pissed me off the most about the playoffs is that I couldn’t pick up the american feeds and had to listen to homer chuck the whole time.
If Jack leaves we have a problem.

Shocking.
Love him or hate him, it’s gonna be hard to get used to his replacement.
He wrote something in his blog the other day that stood out. Something about living with two teenage kids is tough. Maybe that had something to do with his decision.

I believe he said it was for family reasons.
I wasn’t a huge fan of Chuck’s style (ok he annoyed the hell out of me after a while) but he did dedicate a huge part of himself to the Raptors and the organization. He will be missed by many I’m sure.

homerism? yeah. comparatively speaking though, he was nowhere near as bad (and was considerably better than) many other broadcast teams. he may have pulled for the raps, but more often than not, he called a spade a spade (excepting his inability to criticize smitch or the front office). if the raps were the beneficiary of a bad call, he usually made a point to mention it. if a bad call went against the raps, he’d mention that too, but tended to avoid blowing it out of proportion. again, it’s all relative…colour/play-by-play guys for a team aren’t expected to be unbiased.

I guess he was ok. Personally I get tired of all these guys after a while. I mean - would it kill these guys to retire a catch phrase once in a while?
Who eats Salami anyway?

Someone post the Chuck Swirsky poem from a while back on RealGM

Some Chuck nostalgia, can’t argue he brought the requisite colour to the game. Top 10 Swirky-isms:
