Sam wasn’t responsible for Bosh taking that stupid jumpshot to close the game. That decision was on Chris. But he is guilty of treating late-game possessions the same as any other play during the game, and playing out the situation so that Bosh had the opportunity to make that mistake. Its why we’re so ridiculously predictable and ineffective when a game comes down to individual possessions.
In this instance, we went with the pick-and-roll yet again. Forget the fact that Kapono, Calderon, and even Delf at the end were shooting the ball incredibly well. Forget the fact that Bosh was fatigued from the first half and had struggled in the 2nd. And forget the fact that everyone in that arena knew he would get the ball and also that the refs had just shown in the previous possession that they were going to swallow their whistles when it came down to Bosh vs. Dwight. Apparently, Sam thinks this is an effective way to end a game.
Mo-Pete miracle shots aside, there’s the f’in reason why we’ve been the worst closing team in the league over the past few seasons.

Both ball handlers, and TJ should have driven to the basket, and then there are many options.
But calling a timeout to draw-up a 20-footer, wow, just wow.

Bad starts, bad finishes are death for coaches. Even though some of it falls on the players, for whatever reason, the fact is either this team isn’t prepared, ill equipped to execute or just isn’t responding to the coach.

Sam when you get fired try and coach from the bottom up and learn to be a coach. You never won as a player and your never going to win as a coach unless you pay your dues and start from the bottom. A coach is that sixth man, the one that can make something out of nothing. The coach is a person the players are willing to go through the wall for and your no coach in my eyes.

I still think it comes down to TJ Ford.. You can see the intensity and desire to win from Calderon and Kapono. I knew when TJ was starting we were done. The Magic can be had if you get up on them …you saw them tense up as the game tightened up. Raps may get one at home but are as good as gone. Let’s hope Colangelo does what so obviously needs to be done.
