It would be great if the Raptors could pick up some of these guys, but we’ve got to get on the right track in the years leading up to 2010 to make Toronto an appealing place for them to want to play.

The J.O. dicethrow is worth it because it allows Jose to play 35+ minutes a night which he HAS TO in order for the team to improve. Getting TJ out of town was the #1 off season priority. More so than improving the team in other areas like the 2 and/or 3 spots in my opinion.
Will J.O. put the team over the hump? Hell no… But if he is more healthy than in recent years he could add enough (along with the development of Bargs and Calderon) to help win a playoff series which will go a long way in the long-term once the 2 years left on his contract are over and he’s long gone.
Unfortunately, TJ had to go…

by ‘player option, likely’, do you mean likely to opt out of likely to exercise the option?

I would guess that he means likely to exercise option (to stay put).
