Like the White sox, yet, in basketball - and truer to the name…
Two games ago, I returned from a beer-run to notice the Raptors had the all-white lineup in, (a lineup we’ve dubbed BLANCA), so I did some light-hearted research to see who could field the best ‘all-white’ lineup in the NBA.
I had em like this (a close 1-2 tilt):
1) Raps: Calderon-Delfino-Kapono-Bargnani-Nesterovic (Brezec-Garbajosa)
2) Lakers: Vujacic-Karl-Walton-Radmanovic-Gasol (Mihm)
3) Blazers: Blake-Rodriguez-LaFrentz-McRoberts-Pryzbilla
4) Grizzlies: Cardinal-Jacobsen-Milicic-Miller-Navarro
Honourable mentions:
Indiana: Diener-Dunleavy-Foster-Murphy
Suns: Nash-Giricek-Piatkowski-Marks
Spurs: Barry-Bonner-Ginobli-Oberto*
Jazz: Korver-Kirilenko-Harpring-Okur*
Spurs and Jazz could probably play 4 on 5, and give the other teams a run for their money.

Brezec must be the revserse Skinner. The likes of Ron Artest have molded him into an African American.. er Slovenian.
Someone is sure to come in here crying racism! due to all the years of oppression that caucasians have encountered, especially the tall gangly ones at the hands of Shaq.

and yea, someone will inevitably ask ‘Why does it matter?’ and ignorantly cry ‘Racist!’ as they routinely do, at anyones mere mention of obvious differences between humans. And i’ll respond by saying “It doesn’t matter, in a large context. European basketball players/teams do have a different playing style, but that is in no way inherent to race.”
(Then I’d point them to Obama’s ‘We must stop ignoring race, now’ speech, just to rankle em further.)

On a serious note TheStar ran an an article titled “The White Jays” a few years back due to the lack of minorities on the team and in the minors (I believe they ranked last in the MLB), and received heavy backlash for it.
I felt the article was relevant, and the reaction was blown out of proportion mainly because of the controversial headline (which I’m sure the editor felt was too creative and attention-grabbing not to use), but it’s not surprising that anything involving race can spin out of control quickly. I think with any piece dealing with such matters, equal responsibility falls on the reader for the intonations or implications that it might present.
